Are there any hidden fees?
No, a uniform is included with enrollment. Unlike most kids martial arts classes, all testing fees (including stripes and sashes) are included with the price of tuition.
Is there a belt system?
While we do have periodic testing and a sash system for children, the focus of our school is not on competition. We use the sash system as a means to monitor student progress and keep the child engaged. Testing is done individually.
Will my child learn self defense skills?
Wing Chun Kung Fu is intended for practical self defense. Children ages 4-6 will learn Kung Fu Basics, but the main goal of these classes is to help students with balance, focus and teamwork.
Is there a contract? Do you have to sign up for a specific amount of time?
No. Unlike most kids martial arts classes, there is no contract required.
Does your school have large kid's classes?
No. Smaller kids martial arts class sizes allow for more personalized training
Many different martial arts seem to promote an aggressive environment. Does The Dragon Institute also promote this kind of attitude in your kids classes?
No. We promote an ego-free, non aggressive environment. We believe in focusing more on positive character development, cooperation, sharing and compassion.
How are students taught leadership skills?
More advanced students work with newer students, helping them gain leadership skills
Each student will be asked to lead the class during certain exercises to encourage the self empowerment
What makes Wing Chun Kung Fu best for teaching children self defense?
Wing Chun Kung Fu was designed to help smaller opponents defeat larger opponents, making it the perfect martial art for childrens self defense
Are students encouraged to be involved with the community?
Community Service is required to progress in our Sash System
What is required for students to progress, outside of in-class training?
Students must perform well in school and at home to reach higher levels
Are the parents allowed to stay and watch class?
We promote a warm family friendly atmosphere. Parents are encouraged to stay and watch their children’s classes.
